MGS Delta Complete Walkthrough: Every Mission, Boss & Secret
Nope.
The thing about MGS Delta that took me three playthroughs to really internalize is that the game rewards you for paying attention to small environmental details in ways that no tutorial or guide could ever fully capture, and that's kind of the whole point.
And this walkthrough covers the entire MGS Delta campaign from the opening drop to the credits. I've organized it by operation phase rather than by arbitrary levels, because that's how the game actually structures things. ## Phase 1: Virtuous Mission (Prologue)
Snake drops into Tselinoyarsk with a backpack radio and not much else. Your objective is to extract Sokolov, a Soviet rocket scientist, from a research facility. And you start near a swamp. Move north through the tall grass. There's a guard patrolling the main path, wait for him to turn away, then cross. Grab the Mk22 from the supply drop marked on your map by Major Zero. Without it, you're limited to CQC takedowns only. First guard encounter: crawl up behind him, grab with CQC, interrogate. He'll mark the location of the facility on your map. Choke him out (don't kill, lethal kills affect your rank and The Sorrow fight later). But the Rassvet ruins are where you find Sokolov. There's a Kerotan frog on a beam inside the broken church, shoot it now, because you can't come back to this area. After the Ocelot unit ambush and The Boss's betrayal cutscene, the Virtuous Mission ends. Operation Snake Eater begins one week later (in-game time). ## Phase 2: Snake Eater, Infiltration
Really.
You re-enter the jungle with the same gear. First stop: Dremuchij. It's a swamp area with crocodiles (don't get eaten, they one-shot you if you wade into deep water). Hunt snakes and frogs to top off stamina. Your goal is the abandoned factory at Bolshaya Past. Seriously. Two paths: the southern route has fewer guards but a minefield. But the northern route has more patrols but clearer footing. I took the south route and crawled through the minefield using thermal goggles to spot the mines. Slow but safe. At the factory, you encounter The Pain. Refer to the boss guide for that fight. After beating him, grab the hornet stripe camo from his body if you went non-lethal. ## Phase 3: The Cave & The Fear
Through the cave system at Chyornaya Peschera. It's pitch black. Use the torch attachment on your weapon (press R3 while aiming to toggle it). Torchlight attracts guards though. Pick your moments. The cave spiders are harmless but annoying. Not kidding. There's a hidden passage behind a waterfall about halfway through, duck under the water surface to find a cave with extra rations and a suppressor. After the cave, you enter the Ponizovje jungle where The Fear ambushes you. Thermal goggles, patience, shotgun. Refer to boss guide. ## Phase 4: The Warehouse & Graniny Gorki
The thing about MGS Delta that took me three playthroughs to really internalize is that the game rewards you for paying attention to small environmental details in ways that no tutorial or guide could ever fully capture, and that's kind of the whole point.
Ponizovje warehouse area: you need to find Raikov, a GRU officer who looks suspiciously like Raiden from MGS2. He's in the east wing, second floor. You need his uniform to infiltrate Groznyj Grad later. Knock him out (a tranq headshot works), drag his body into a locker, and take the uniform. Don't kill him, the uniform won't drop if he's dead. Graniny Gorki lab: you need to meet with a scientist named Granin. The lab has both scientist and guard patrols. It works. The scientist disguise (lab coat from the locker room) lets you walk past most guards unbothered. Don't run, running in a lab coat raises suspicion etc.. After Granin's cutscene (and his unfortunate encounter with a metal gear prototype), you get your next objective: infiltrate Groznyj Grad. ## Phase 5: The Mountains & The End
This is where the game shifts. The jungle gives way to rocky mountain passes. Snow camo becomes relevant. The Svyatogornyj forest is your next area, and The End is waiting. This sniper duel can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on your approach. The non-lethal takedown nets you the Moss camo which is arguably the best woodland pattern in the game. Worth the effort etc.. Trust me on this one. ## Phase 6: The Fury & The Mountains
After the forest, you enter a military tunnel complex. The Fury fight happens here, narrow corridors, flamethrower. Move constantly, shoot his jetpack. Non-lethal drops the Fire camo. Continue through the mountains. You'll reach Krasnogorje, the cliffside outpost. There's a sniper on the watchtower, use the Mosin-Nagant to take him out from distance. If you climb the watchtower after clearing it, there's a GA-KO duck sitting on the railing. ## Phase 7: Groznyj Grad
Absolutely.
The main Soviet base. This is the largest infiltration section in the game. You should have Raikov's uniform from the warehouse. Wear it and walk through the front gate, seriously, it works. The guards salute you. Inside, find the Shagohod hangar. I learned this the hard way. This leads to the prison sequence (voluntary, you have to get captured to progress). The prison escape is where you experience the Guy Savage nightmare if you save and reload at the right moment. ## Phase 8: Shagohod Chase & The Boss
After escaping Groznyj Grad on a motorcycle with EVA, you're chased by the Shagohod, a nuclear-equipped tank. RPG-7 to the treads slows it down. The chase sequences are on rails but enemies on bikes will ram you, shoot the drivers. The Shagohod fight proper takes place at an airfield. And then, The Boss in the flower field. ## Final Phase: Ending
Really.
I won't spoil the ending. But after the credits, check your radio. 141.80. Took me forever to figure out.
